What is this weird line on Dollor Store hpt?

My af is 3 days late so I tested this afternoon. A pink line didn't come up so I was inspecting it as I'm sure all of us do! When I tilted it a line shined where the test line should show up. I looked at an old test and it didn't do that. Was my test defective? Or do all of them do that when they are fairly fresh?
