Question

What causes false positives?

A little while ago I went to a clinic for a pregnancy test. My first test showed a VERY faint line so they had me come back the next day to take another one. The next day the line was MUCH darker so they confirmed that I was, in fact, pregnant. We were overjoyed. However, about a week later, I started cramping and lightly bleeding so we went to the emergency room and they did a blood pregnancy test. The test came back negative and they doctor confirmed that my uterus did not feel pregnant at all. We were devastated to say the least. So my question is, how could I get TWO false positive clinical pregnancy test? I know they are very rare. What are the chances of getting 2 of them so close together?

they don't sound like 2 false positives it sounds like you had a chemical pregnancy.

I had a chemical pregnancy last cycle, and I have heard that some doctors consider it a "false positive" because it is a miscarriage that happens so early. Sorry, and good luck for next month!
