Mid-cycle bleeding twice in one cycle?!

I had some spotting and ovulation-like pains on CD 13. I was excited, thinking I was ovulating (I normally have a very short LP and was hoping the b6 was doing its job!)...however, no pos OPK and only a slight thermal shift on CD 15. I kept doing the BD, luckily, and got a pos OPK on CD 17 followed by spotting on CD 19 and a MAJOR temp increase CD 20. I am assuming that I actually o'd on CD 17-19, but what's up with the spotting and O pain earlier in the month?! Has this happened to anyone else? I'm hoping its possible I o'd earlier, as my 28 day cycle means not much chance for a sticky bean if I o'd on CD 19
