Should I get an early scan?

We found out last week that we our expecting our first baby. We have a 2 week holiday booked to America in June, I will be 11 weeks when we go and 13 weeks when we return. I am wondering whether to get a private scan before we go for peace of mind whilst we are there or is that being a bit OTT? I feel like time is standing still at the moment and that the next 8 months are going to take forever !!
