5th cycle ttc #1

Hi all! So I'm 38 and my hubby is 36 - we're in our 5th cycle. Last cycle was odd - don't think I ovulated - and it lasted 36 days! I'm currently on CD 17 of this cycle. I'm pretty sure I ovulated either yesterday or today. Currently on my 3rd day of + OPK - Didn't get my first positive until Sunday late afternoon. We were BDing every other day, so we had BD on Saturday but then I got my + OPK so we BD Sunday and Monday and are planning on tonight. We're loosely following the SMEP method - didn't start BD on CD 8 like it recommends, but on CD 12 instead. It's been a crazy month - dog was ill, we went on vacation, etc. So if we BD tonight, then we skip a day and BD the next. Anyone else tried SMEP with success or at all?
