Pressure headache remedy

Tension headaches are probably to occur when you're at your most vulnerable, according to the National Institutes of Health. They occur when "neck and scalp muscles become tense, or contract. The muscle contractions can be a response to stress, depression, a head injury, or anxiety." So not only are you tense, injured, or depressed, you now also have a headache which will likely worsen your existing conditions. And you are not alone in this, say the National institutes of Health. Evidently, "tension headaches are one of the most common kinds of headaches. They may occur at any age, but are most typical in adults and adolescents."

I found this here: Relieve your tension headaches

Side effects of medicine overuse

Ibuprofen, aspirin, and acetaminophen are some of the most frequent over-the-counter medicines you can take to treat your pressure headache. They are easy to come by and relatively inexpensive. However, the National Institutes of Health warn, "After a while, [these painkillers] do not work also or they do not alleviate headaches for as long." The headaches that result from overuse of painkillers are classified as "rebound" headaches.

Bite on a pencil

Fortunately, there is a way to treat tension headaches caused whenever you clench your jaw in response to stress or anxiety without resorting to medicine. A health expert with Yahoo.com says when you feel your jaw clench, "put a pencil between your teeth (don't bite down) and hold it there. This simple strategy will trigger your jaw to relax, easing pressure, forestalling the headache, and easing the pain." Practicing relaxation techniques such as meditation may also help avoid pressure headaches as you learn how to release the pressure inside your neck and shoulders. And of course, a neck or shoulder rub never hurt anyone either.
