One heartbeat. .. impossible to have twins right?

So I'm 16 weeks along and I just let the cat out of the bag at work and half the women claim they could tell way before I said anything. They all think I started showing really early and kept asking if I was sure it wasn't twins. This is my first so I don't really know when you are supposed to be showing. But to keep it short they have me kind of freaking out it could be twins. We heard the heartbeat and it was singular. So it's impossible to have twins in there right. Their heart beats don't synchronize? Sorry if this sounds naive :/

Have you had an ultrasound yet? There have been cases of one twin hiding behind another, but it isn't the norm. Usually they see them right away, if not hear them.

and when did you start showing? I started showing around 14-15 weeks with my first and 12wks with my 2nd..

I had a little bump at 12 wks. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks which only showed one. So I'm in the clear. Woooo. Twins would be a surprise blessing but overwhelming knowing the risk of complications goes up.
