1st IUI. TTC for 2 years.

Hi! I've been TTC for 2 years. Last July, we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. In October, I had an HSG, got pregnant, and quickly miscarried. I was placed on Clomid for 4 months. No luck! During that time, we think I may have miscarried at least 1 more time too. Last month, I had my first appointment with a different specialist. I just started my next cycle today, and will be having my 1st IUI this time. The doctor seems to think maybe if the sperm can bypass any interaction with my cervical fluid, it will do the trick. I'm REALLY nervous. I had a hard time with the HSG. It was the worst pain I've ever felt, and I got dizzy, and almost passed out. If anyone could share the IUI experiences with me, I'd really appreciate it!

Hi! I've had 2 IUI's both failed though. We have unexplained infertility too. We've been trying for 2 years. I'm 37 and my husband is 35. I'm very regular so I'm pretty dead on when I ovulate. I think I have a titled cervix which is what they said when I had my first IUI. It is not bad at all honestly. It takes about 10 mins at the most. It is less invasive than a PAP smear! They insert a super tiny catheder with the "washed" sperm and they bypass your cervix to help those babies swim faster - then it is all about timing really. It doesn't hurt at all -- just a little weird. You usually lay there afterwards for about 5 or 10 mins and then you can leave and do whatever you normally would for the rest of the day. You don't have to lay down or anything - the sperm are not gonig to come back out becuase they have passed your cervix. Just relax and think positive thoughts. There are lots of folks out there that have gotten pregnancy with their very first IUI!! They say you should only do 4 IUI's and if that doesn't work then you need to think about going Invitro. I didn't take Clomid or anything because I'm regular and do ovulate. I did take a shot of Ovidrel 24 hours before I had the IUI. That was painless too. I let my husand do it. So, don't be nervous--you shouldn't have any problems....sending baby dust your way!!!
