If you have spotting around ovulation do you ovulate before, the day of or after spotting?

So I have noticed that sometimes I have a lil spotting around the time I would think I would be ovulating. Last cycle I had it on day 15 of 31 day cycle and this cycle on day 12. For those that have the spotting and check ovulation when do you ovulate...before, the day of or after the spotting?
