Question

Does the egg white cervical mucus mean you already ovulated or you're about to ovulate?

I have been using an app to track my cycles for about a year and a half. Seems like my average cycle length is 28 days. (Shortest was 25 and longest was 31)

The day before the app said I was supposed to ovulate I saw a huge mass of egg white cervical mucus. I was just wondering if that meant I ovulated after I saw that or before? Does it depend on the person?

2 days before the app said I was supposed to ovulate my fiance and I did the baby dance so now I am in the two week wait as well.

Thank you for any input.

Hello sockgirl,

In a way it depends on the person but in a general aspect, normally when there is EWCM present, you are ovulating and you have 12- 24 hours for the egg be vulnerable for fertilization. The main thing is to have BD 6-8 days after your cycle ends ( your actual bleeding days) or start around cycle days 10 to when ovulation ends. Ovulation has ended when you are dry , not much CM present. And if your egg was fertilized, your CM mucus will come back, hopefully thick and paste like. If you became pregnant, your CM will be lot thicker and really white, because as the baby is developing, starting at implanting, the mucus is there to protect the baby from bacteria, and other sperms, it doesn't need that anymore lol

It means you are fertile and your body is preparing for ovulation.
