Question

Low hcG levels at 5 weeks!?!

AF was due 05/31. I got a faint positive on 05/30 & was able to get in for a doctors appointment on 05/31. I was told I was pregnant but had a very low hcG of 12.1; I was told to come back in two days. My number on 06/01 had only risen to 17.9 (this was a Friday). I had bad cramping & bleeding on 06/04-06/05 (Sunday/Monday) & was sure I had miscarried. The dr told me to come in on Tuesday (06/06) for another draw to confirm the miscarriage but when hcG numbers came back they had gone up to 79.2. The dr had me wait until today to do another blood panel. I have many pregnancy symptoms but have been so confused by these numbers!!! Has anyone had a viable pregnancy with such low numbers?! I should have the results late this afternoon! Please help ease my anxiety!!!

They are low, but they have increased. When mine were this low it didn't work out, but I searched everyday and there were many success stories where the next time they had checked them they had gone into the hundreds then thousands it can happen. Unfortunately it's a waiting game though. It can only go one way or the other. Stay positive and remember stress won't help. Fingers crossed for you

@taylorv03: Thank you; my levels yesterday was 200.9... still not doubling like it is supposed to but is rising.
I have random phases of nausea, my breasts are too big for my bras now (TMI), & none of my pants fit from this very large lower abdomen which has appeared.... I know they say that with your second you show before you did with your first but this is crazy for my numbers to be so low. I think I've decided to not find out the numbers when I go for my levels twice a week. Just unnecessary to know what they are. Thank you for taking the time to give me an answer; it is very appreciated!

I'm in a very similar boat. My beta yesterday came in at 9.91. I'll test again tomorrow to find out if it's increasing or doubling. With our first fertility cycle this happened and it ended with a chemical pregnancy. However, like taylorv03 said, I've read many instances where there were many successful pregnancies even with low hcg. As long as it continues to increase, even if it doesn't fully double, there's still a chance. It's when it keeps dropping is when there is an issue. Keep your chin up and take it day by day.

@kld1624 I am worried that I going to be one of those women who has low hcG & is a lot farther than I even know.... Seriously can't fit into any clothes! I know you show early but my belly is starting to have its own orbital pull! I will be praying for you and your little bump! My level was very low like that & now is 200.9 so hoping you're levels rise!

I have my fingers crossed for you both I've had this four times already this Year and it never gets easier. Although yours are going up so that's positive for sure. Mine did but then never got that high and started dropping. The thing is as much as we all want a baby we want healthy babies and only our bodies can decide that. I guess that's what I tell myself. What will be will be and when it's right it's right. Let me know how you get on. x

My levels are still not increasing as they would like. My doctor called yesterday & said my number had only risen to 269. He believes this is the slow down before the miscarriage & that my body is starting to recognize that this will not be a viable pregnancy. I started bleeding & went to the ER. My hcG level was 259.4 last night. The doctor in the ER did say that these are two different labs in two different health care systems which could account for the decline. However, the numbers are still not rising. I am trying to be positive & am praying that the Lord show out with a miracle. The realist side of me is trying to prepare myself for this loss. I am praying for the two of you to have better news! Please keep me in your prayers.

You are... I hope you are ok? I've been through this now myself so many times and I know how awful it is. I hope this is the happy ending we all want. If not like I said then there was something wrong and it will happen for you next time. x

@adkight89 I hope things turn back around for you and that your little one will be okay. Like Taylorv03 said, we want healthy babies. If our bodies are miscarrying, there must be a reason. However, even understanding that, it doesn't make the process any easier to deal with.

I'm waiting for my bloodwork results to come back around noon time today. If my hcg decreases, we know what's likely to occur. If it doubles, I'll breath a temporary sigh of relief. If it only slightly increases, the RE wants to do an ultrasound and make sure the embryo is actually inside my uterus and not in a tube or ectopic.

I did a home test this morning and still only had a very very faint positive. So I'm not holding my breath for doubling, but am hoping for an increase.

I pray you get good news as well! I just got a call from the nurse that my level has gone from 267.3 to 369.7 in the 48 hrs. They are very worried about an ectopic. I've been told to go to the ER immediately for any bleeding, cramping, fever.... if not then to go for another blood draw on Monday. All this is very disheartening but I do believe the Lord is in control and none of this has surprised Him like it has me. Praying for you both to have good news!
