Still no BFP! Clomid thoughts.
Hi everyone,
Our daughter was stillborn at 38 weeks gestation feb 2014 (unknown causes). My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant since May 2016 with no BFP. We have had my husbands semen checked and everything came back normal. I have been doing ovulation tests and every month I get a positive ovulation test and ewcm. What could be some reasons why we are not getting pregnant from your experience. Also I have my yearly appointment with my ob/gyn soon. What should I expect regarding the possibility of Clomid?
Any thought would be helpful.
Thanks everyone!

Hello! I am so sorry to hear about your daughter :( I went through a similar situation as you when TTC my daughter, she took just over 2 very long years. All checked out at the dr's for both of us. OPK positive every month, hubby had healthy sperm, infertility docs eventually tried me on Clomid and wanted to try IUI, but after I took it I had developed too many eggs for my comfort level (I have hip problems and was too afraid to carry 3 at once!), so two months later for whatever reason, we finally got pregnant on our own. There was a 6 month period of when I would go in before a positive OPK, the day of, and a couple days after, and the Dr said the ultrasound showed I did not actually ovulate each time. Body gears up, and never follows through. Drs say it's just unexplained, or too much stress-but-how can you not stress about it??? I do wish you all the best!! Sometimes our bodies, for whatever reason, don't do what the textbooks say they should! TTC#2 now, and experiencing the same.

you should first get a proper check up - if you really do ovulate (opk shows that you have lh surge and the cm shows that estrogen rises but they do not say whether you do ovulate; to confirm ovulation you need a sonogram + a progesterone test on cycle day 21), if your ovaries are fit (test fsh lh and amh early in the cycle), if your tubes are ok (if there is a blockage the egg cannot reach the uterus so you cannot get pregnant) etc etc. only after everything is clear you can ask your doctor about clomid: what clomid does is it blocks estrogen production so that your ovaries start overproducing, developing several follicles, and making ovulation (also multiple, so 3-4 eggs at a time) probable (also with the multiples being conceived). but it must be done under control. blocking estrogen does not work for some women (me for example) as the lining does not get high enough for the egg to implant.
