AF 4 days late and still getting bfn's on cheapies

I'm bf'ing and have been testing with first signal on the day I missed my period and today. I have only had one period since my son was born (last month) and we did the deed about the time I should have been ovulating but I'm still getting bfn's. My question is how irregular are periods after giving birth/while bf'ing (before mine were super regular) and should I get a frer and test just in case?
