Question

Confused...Please Help!?!

I just got my 7DPO lab work back (I took it two days early on 5DPO) and I'm a little confused about these values in particular.

I don't have a doctors appointment for a month and was wondering if anyone could please help or share their values with me!

prolactin: 11.5 (3-30) <-- normal range in parentheses
progesterone: 12.8 (2.6-21.5)
FSH: 7 (1.5-9.1)
LH: 4.5 (0.5-16.9)

I do know that my estradiol levels were peaked at 187. I probably ovulated (based on progesterone levels), but it was with an immature follicle.

I will be starting Femara this cycle.

if anyone can offer help or advice I would greatly appreciate it :)

I agree that your progesterone levels indicate ovulation. Why do you feel the egg was immature? 187 is within the expected range of e2 output for a mature follicle.

My estradiol three days before ovulation was 187 and that's where it peaked. One day prior to ovulation it was at exactly the same point at 187. My doctor said the level was too low and levels above 200-250 were required for a mature follicle. Have you heard this??

Thank you for your response! this is all so confusing!

The range I have always been told is 100-300. It is possible that the follicle ruptured but that the egg was not mature and therefore did not cleave itself in two and release from the follicle wall, but I would assume everything happened as it should. Good luck!

my doctor has me thinking I don't ovulate with a matured egg! well fingers crossed the Femara will work and do what it needs to!

That's possible. We learned after doing a lot of IUIs and IVFs that they needed to push me longer to larger follicle sizes and wait until my E2 levels were higher than most to get mature eggs. The average at my clinic for trigger is when the follicle is 17mm and E2 rising over 100. They would give me ganirelix to prevent early ovulation and then do a trigger shot when my follicles were over 23 and E2 over 250.

interesting...this isn't a traditional fertility office. they practice NaproTechnlogy (not sure if you've heard of this or not). perhaps they have different guidelines or goals.

thank you for your input. much appreciated. frustrating I don't have another appointment for a while and my doctor is away til next week!
