Question

What can I expect from taking clomid?

This is my last month of trying to conceive naturally. my doctor prescribed me clomid and I am a little nervous. What are the side effects you had on this medication and did you have multiples? I know there is a small chance of having more than one! It just makes me a bit nervous taking this medication.

Hi. I did 3 rounds of Clomid (days 3-7 100mg) with IUI. I did end up getting a BFP on the 3rd cycle but recently lost it at 5 weeks. My first month on clomid I had pretty intense O pains, hot flashes and was sort of weepy. I had minor cramping all month off and on and I o'd on CD11 (too early). My 2nd month, I O'd on CD15 and I only had ovary pain around O. Couple minor hot flashes but nothing unbearable. My 3rd month - O'd on CD14 and minimal side effects (couple hot flashes and O pain). Overall, the side effects were not bad. My RE told me the chance of multiples is greater on Clomid because it makes your body make multiple mature follicles - however - your body would have to release more than one follicle when ovulating which increases if you have a trigger shot which makes you release all mature. Not to say that no one's body ever releases more than one but you never know. I have 3 gfs who all got pregnant on Clomid and none of them had multiples (no trigger shots)

Hello,

I'm pregnant of my third baby. My first one was conceived on Clomid (3 rounds, 50mg): no side effect at all. My second one was conceived naturally after 13 monthes on Clomid and Puregon ( Clomid up to 250mg, Puregon 150ui, with trigger shot) : no side effect but one month on birth control pill because of a cyst).
My last baby was conceived on the first month TTC, with 250mg Clomid. No side effect at all...

And I got a double ovulation only one month. Never had multiple mature follicles... It really depends on your body's reaction to Clomid! I'm French and here in France, Clomid is taken under very close medical watching : I got ultrasounds done every two days from day cycle 8 to ovulation day, to be sure that there are not more than 3 matures follicles per cycle.

Don't be nervous, Clomid will give you more chances to get pregnant. Even if you may suffer from sides effects, you'll forget all of them when seeing your baby :-)

Good luck!

Hello! I was on clomid for my last baby (#3), i had awful painful ovulation but that's the only side effect I had from taking it. I conceived on my 2nd cycle on it, 1st time was 50mg, then 2nd month was 100mg. I o'd early on my 2nd month and had a positive preg test a week before my AF was due. I didn't get multiples either; and they run in my family. Sending baby dust ur way! good luck!
