Reason for spotting? Can Luteal Phase length vary each cycle?

I am 6DPO and AF isn't due for another 6-7 days.

Last night I spotted brown after sex. Today no spotting just slight tinge to CM.

I normally have a clockwork cycle but I took vitamin B this month and ovulated nearly 7 days later than usual - so AF would normally have been due today but is predicted for 6 days time because of the delayed ovulation.

Unsure of reason for spotting.

I have to call the imaging centre and book in for my HSG as soon as AF starts this cycle. I am confused about if I should call today or if this may not be AF?

I have been TTC for year and a half and have only once in that whole time had a strange cycle (when I had a terrible flu AND gastro!)

Does the Luteal Phase stay the same length after a delayed ovulation? Or does the Luteal Phase shorten and I just had a longer Follicular Phase? Should AF still be due in 6 days if I O late?

I have had a negative HPT. I have zero other symptoms other than how I normally feel before AF.
