Question

Did I take a pregnancy test too early?

Hi everyone! I am very new to this. I've had unprotected sex three times during fertile and ovulation days this month. I wasn't really trying to get pregnant, but I also wasn't being very careful.

The last couple of weeks, my body has been out of sorts. I haven't been sexually active for a long time, so I wasn't sure if being active again could have anything to do with the changes in my body, or the fact I could be pregnant.

I am 9dpo today, almost 10. My expected period date is June 1st. I've always been very regular with my periods every month. I took a pregnancy test earlier today (dumb because it was in the middle of the day and I haven't missed my period yet.) The test came up negative. What I can't shake are these uneasy symptoms I've been feeling for a few weeks now. Close to PMS, but a little bit more severe. If that makes sense... did I take my test too early, and not at the right time? I took the 6 Days soon by First Response.

Help! Could I still be pregnant?

You *could* get a positive pregnancy test at 9-10DPO and get a positive. I got a pretty dark positive at 10DPO with a much less sensitive test with my first pregnancy. However, implantation most commonly happens between 8-10DPO and once implantation happens it takes a couple of days to have enough hCG for a positive test. So there is a very real chance you tested too early.

HOWEVER, if you had enough hCG to cause symptoms then you'd have enough hCG to turn a FRER positive. FRERs only require 8.3miu of hCG which isn't much. To give an idea of how little that is: it's perfectly normal for women who aren't pregnant to have 0-5miu hCG. So only 3.3 more than a lady who isn't pregnant has.

I'd say it's pretty safe to assume that your symptoms are not pregnancy related since you got a negative pregnancy test.

If your period doesn't start on time you may want to test again just to be sure.
