Question

8 weeks pregnant + slight cramps when laying a certain way in bed or bending - normal or problem?

I have had general twinges or pulls since before finding out I was pregnant but recently if I lay a particular way in bed to sleep I get a sudden pulling or twinge - it isn't 'painful' per se just uncomfortable and I have to move to the other side to relieve it.

midwife apt on the 13th so another week, dr isn't bothered at all

I m/c before and didn't get this plus my sickness is in overdrive atm - I think I pulled areas from throwing up and retching which could be making this worse..

has anyone else had this? should I be concerned of ectopic or m/c? haven't had a scan yet.. despite dr. wanting me to have an early one (nobody seems to care!)

Hello. I used to have this pain with my first pregnancy and it was caused by placenta previa and it fixed itself later in the pregnancy. I hope this is not the case, it could also just be your abdomen stretching and making room for new baby.

thank you so much for your reply it really does mean a lot given my state of mind atm!

it feels a bit different to the usual stretching which is why I was starting to worry - I also just got a tiny amount of light brown cm (like a fingertip's worth TMI sorry!) literally just now after going for a walk and now even more concerned

will they detect placenta previa by examination or scan then?

going to call the midwife tomorrow to try and speed things up!

thanks again

You're welcome. They discovered the placenta previa when I had vaginal bleeding at 11 weeks and abdominal pain. It kinda felt like I was going to tear a muscle or something if I did certain movements. All they told me was to be on bed rest/pelvic rest until the bleeding stopped and kept on monitoring it on the next scans. As the baby grew the issue resolved on its own. Tell your midwife what your experiencing and ask if she thinks that may be the problem. Also, since you don't know what is going on at the moment try not to over exert yourself. I hope I was of some help. Hopefully it's nothing serious and its just your uterus/ligaments stretching. <3
