Question

Does a drop in hcg levels almost always indicate a miscarriage??

I had gone to the drs to get a blood test done to measure the hcg level last Tuesday, 10/13/2015 and the results came back that the hcg was at 74 and went it last Friday, 10/16/2015 to do another blood test and the results that my hcg level dropped to 67. Does a drop in hcg levels almost always signify a miscarriage? If so, how long after a drop does the miscarriage happen? I have one child already, and this would be my first miscarriage. I'm just a bit nervous and scared because I know I do want to have more children, but scared that I might not be able to conceive again, yet alone carry it full term.

It usually does. There are some very rare cases where there were twin pregnancies, and the loss of one twin causes a drop, but it is pretty rare. I wouldn't worry too much about a future pregnancy though. Most women with one miscarriage go on to have a healthy pregnancy. If you have recurrent losses though, you should definitely talk to your doctor about genetic testing.
