I haven't personally been on antidepressants before so I can't respond in that regard. Taking any medication during pregnancy all boils down to risk vs benefit. There's a chance that antidepressants might pose health risks to your unborn child BUT stopping might pose health risks for you. Pregnancy can trigger a whole host of hormones and emotions that make it more difficult to cope with depression, especially untreated depression. Typically the risk of birth defects due to mothers who take antidepressants during pregnancy is low, and while there are some that aren't recommended, there are some medications that are. Certain SSRIs, SNRIs, Wellbutrin, and tricyclic antidepressants could be considered as an option. Zoloft generally falls into the safe-to-take category (it's an SSRI). Paxil (an SSRI) isn't recommended and neither are MAOIs. Trust your RE's judgement and recommendation to stay on your Zoloft--chances are it'll be best for you. Happy mom = happy baby :) Best of luck.
