Question

Accuracy of first response early testing hpts?

Hi just wondered about the accuracy of frer tests? I know it has some stats on the pack but does anyone have any negative reviews of them? I bought a ton of them from boots (they were doing a bogof special) this month and every one has come out negative. I don't know if I'm kidding myself because I have had some symptoms. I'm still either 11 or 12 dpo. Feeling stupid because I more or less persuaded myself I was pregnant and now I'm miserable! :-(

Hi, I know how terrible you must be feeling. It happened to me a few months back when I felt I had all the text book symptoms of pregnancy and I was convinced that I was pregnant so even though I had promised my husband that we would test only at 14 dpo or if Af didn't turn up, I picked up a frer test and tested about 4 days before my period due date. I was totally expecting to see a faint positive at least if not a bfp. I was so disheartened to see the negative result that I just convinced myself it was too early and I would be able to see one in a few days time. Unfortunately Af turned up a few days later! Anyway after that experience I have decided not to waste money and simply upset myself. I try to forget about the whole thing and wait till my period due date and only if missed I test. Honestly, since these tests vary so much from woman to woman that testing early can rarely give you an accurate result. So hang in there and best of luck! Hope you get your bfp soon! Baby dust to u!

Thanks anastasia999 - it helps at least to know others are in the same boat.

Don't worry sweetie! And no reason to feel stupid! We all feel bit down and dejected when those tests come back negative. I guess it's just a part of life and we have to accept it and keep trying. Persistence and determination is the key! I am sure we will get our bfp's soon! Hang in there! Hugs!!!

I have always found Clearblue to be better than First Response, and although a lot of people swear by them - but not for me in my personal opinion. In my previous pregnancy I got a positive on Clearblue followed by two negatives on First Response - took a Clearblue Digital and came up Pregnant.

I also have just found out today that I am expecting baby #2 and First Response gave me a positive almost instantly, tested with a Clearblue too and the CB was much darker than the FRER. So I do have a favourite, but each mum to their own. What works with some mums might not with others :) shop around and find what suits you xx GL
