Question

How do you know if your cervix is hard, soft, open and so forth

Can anyone explain to me how to tell the difference between hard, soft and open. I seem to feel the same thing every time. Maybe it will change as the month goes by... But at this point I'm confused.

Getting to know your cervix is tough but once you figure it out it'll provide you with a lot of good ttc info! The best way to learn about your cervix and what it's doing during your cycle is to check it daily, or at least every other day, and try to correlate it to where you're at in your cycle. It also helps to know what's "normal" for each part of your cycle so you can anticipate what you should be feeling when you check. For example, during ovulation (a day or two before, during, and after) remember the acronym SHOW: soft, high, open, and wet. Those four things are what you should notice during ovulation. You can use your knuckles on one finger as points of reference to help you get an idea of how high/low your cervix is, for example, let's say at ovulation when your cervix is high your point of reference might be your second knuckle on your finger, whereas when you finish af and it's low it might only be at the first knuckle or so. Just keep practicing.

I am wondering the same thing. Mine usually feels the same also. It's soft and hard. Hard in the center where the opening is and soft around the edges. I can never tell.
