What I'd happening? Do I get my hopes up?

Been txt for 2nd baby since Dec. No joy each month! Brought ovulation kit, which said I reached peak fertility on 12th day of cycle. Did the deed with hubbie days leading up to then on the day. Got bloody mess after sex on day of peak ovulation and had spotting for 3 days following. Ranged bright blood to brown discharge. (Sorry for tmi!) Then all settled again. Now last night had bloody mucus (only when I wiped) and today bright red blood (quite watery) mixed with brown mucus/discharge. Due for period on Tuesday (currently 12 dpo) what should I do? The wait in is killing me. I seemed to fall without trying with my little boy (turns 3 in Aug). Should I be optimistic... have had heavy tender boobs all so, upset stomach today, and can't seem to stop eating also all wk! Am I reading into it too much? Also had funny taste in mouth several times since ovulation.
