Giving up for now. Been crying all night...

I'm about 9 DPO today and again light spotting but it's bright red so I know im out again this month. I have 3 children from my previous marriage. My youngest is 10. I got pregnant without even trying. I knew it would be harder now because I'm 40 but not only have we been unsuccessful, I have random bleeding. I've been screened for cancer, all my tests come back fine the only thing is I have a very "sensitive" cervix so I bleed during paps and intimacy sometimes. This started in the last 2 years. So I don't know what is going on. I feel so bad for my husband. He is the most amazing man I have ever met and I know how badly he wants a child of his own, but he doesn't believe in fertility treatments or any of that so if we can't do it on our own he will leave it as that.
I know people try for years before they are successful but in their 40's? I just feel like giving up hope. My heart is broken.
