Implantation bleeding on 03/13, still negative only 3 days from when my period is due?

I haven't been keeping track of my cycle b/c I am recently divorced & up until recently was not sexually active. I Think my period started around 02/19. Had sex with ex-dh on or about 03/06. Thought my period was starting on 03/13 b/c I noticed brown blood in my panties, but after about 5 hours of wiping brownish/pink blood after peeing, no period ever showed. I think my period is due around 03/19, today is 03/16. I took a test today and it was negative. I am just thoroughly confused by what that brown spotting could have been if not implantation bleeding. And from what I've read IF it WAS implantation bleeding, the pregnancy test should have shown positive by now, even though my period is not due for a few more days.

I'm almost 40 years old, I have 5 kids, I'm divorced and my youngest just turned 1. I do not want to be pregnant, but I just can't explain what that could have been if not implantation bleeding, yet I should be teting positive by now if it was.
