Question

Unusually light periods past couple of months and TTC

My period at the end of December was unusually light, DH and I BD the week of ovulation in the middle of January and I'm pretty sure we caught the egg. 9dpo I was having a sharp pain in one particular spot which I assumed was implantation (I even had a little spotting) but then my period came right on schedule.

I guess my question is do you think there could be an imbalance with my hormones or a problem with my lining if my period is all the sudden much lighter than usual and we aren't having any luck with BFP? Or is it just somehing that occasionally happens and doesn't effect TTC? I just need some hope because after our past few months of BFN I'm becoming a negative nancy. Any stories are appreciated!

I had something similar to this back in Sept. I got random af like cramps and just the tiniest bit of spotting at 11dpo. But my af was 8 days late. I never got a bfp. Girls on here told me it was probably a hormone imbalance. I don't know if I agree. It was an anomaly and hasn't happened again. I figured it was an anovulatory cycle cuz when af did show it came on slow and was light. With anovulatory cycles your lining eventually gets too thick and sheds hence af is late cuz ovulation didn't set your luteal phase timer. Now, your af wasn't late so I don't know that you had an anovulatory cycle. But if this is the first time it's happened I wouldn't worry. I've had normal cycles since my bogus one. Estrogen kinda fluctuates a little in the lp and you could spot on occasion. My guess is it was a fluke. Carry on as if nothing happened unless it happens again.

I know when I ovulated because I had a clear positive on opks along with cramping on one side.
I wouldn't be worried if it was a one time thing but I just got my period again this past Friday afternoon and it looks like it's just about over now (Sunday night). So it's even shorter than last time.

I just don't get why now that we officially start TTC I'm getting all of these wacky cycles!

Did you just come off bc? With my anovulatory cycle I had a clear positive on an opk too. Your body can give all the signs it's gonna o and then fail to do so. It's normal to not ovulate once or twice a year. Another possibility is you have low estrogen. Estrogen is what builds your lining. If your period is light you may not have much lining to shed. You could try a supplement to increase estrogen. Even a vitamin could help. Maybe evening primrose oil as it has estrogenic properties? Taking it at the beginning of your cycle when estrogen is the dominant hormone might help build your lining. Stop taking it after o tho. Also if you recently came off bc your body might naturally have lighter periods or is still trying to reset itself.

Twillems13 I was thinking low estrogen too because from what I've read online I have a couple of the other tell tale symptoms. I just really hope this isn't something that is a serious problem.

Do you think it is safe just to take straight estrogen pills? It's not something I've ever looked for so I'm not sure if they even sell that in stores anyways..

And I haven't just come off of birth control, this is just a random thing that just started happening.
