Question

Trying for 2nd baby for almost 3 years, but unsuccessful

I am 36 years old and my husband is 40 now, I had my first child at the age of 31. We are planning for almost 3 years (when I was 33 years old) for the second child, but unsuccessful, I went to obygn for checkup and they said everything is normal and I ovulate regularly and my husband's sperm count is way above normal. We plan during ovulation period almost in every cycle, but nothing is fruitful. Can anyone please advice. Thanks

Do you use opks? You may be ovulating later or earlier than you think. Many women think they o on day fourteen. I usually o on days 15 thru 20. It could just be a timing problem.

I read an article that recommends seeing a fertility specialist if you have not became pregnant after trying for a year up to age 34 and 6 months at 35 and older.

Thanks for your answers, as I mentioned started planning at 33 and I went to the doctor for checkup after 1 year, they did some blood work and said everything is ok and no fertility issues. I can sense my ovulation my checking on my cervical mucus on daily basis. So everything is alright and planning during ovulation , but I was wondering why it is taking such a long time (almost 3 years) Thanks

I have been TTC for three years also. My first son was conceived no problem, this time we are having a lot more trouble to conceive. I finally broke down and went to my OBGYN. I was so nervous and anxious about making an appointment. I was worried about the price of fertility medicine. I was also worried that the doctor would say we are still young, and we would leave empty handed. I am 21, my husband is 28. Our lab work was normal, except for the fact I developed PCOS. I told her we were ready for baby #2, and she prescribed me Provera and clomid without hesitation. I would definitely make an appointment and talk to your doctor about options.

I would consider seeing an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) who is a fertility specialist. They may use clomid or femara to boost your "o" even if you already ovulate. They may check with ultrasound to see if you actually release your egg at ovulation - if not they may give you an hcg trigger shot. Have you been charting your BBT - perhaps you have a short luteal phase or even have not been timing sex in the most fertile days (in the 3 days before O). Good luck.
