First Pregnancy and lots of feels
So, I just found out this week that I am about to be a mom! While my husband and I are thrilled, my mind is of course swimming with questions and concerns. I can feel my body already reacting to the pregnancy, really nauseated in the morning, fatigue, breast tenderness, mucus discharge, etc. However, my doctors office can't get me in until after the first of the year, which makes me nervous. We were hoping to announce our pregnancy at Christmas, but is it a good idea to announce prior to my first visit?
Additionally, I know that the first trimester is a critical time in fetal development, so I started my prenatal vitamins and have been very careful about what I eat. My husband is treating me like I'm a piece of delicate China though, and I feel pretty normal. In these early stages is there any reason to change my day to day routine? Obviously I know not to physically exert myself too much, but is there much danger of harming my baby at this stage?

During the first trimester the baby goes through critical development. Therefore, it is important to stay away from toxins, medications/even certain topical creams (unless your dr gives an ok), hot baths and hot tubs are not recommended either. Otherwise, exercise is good but not overdoing it in terms of heart rate and exertion. Limit caffeine, no alcohol, no smoking. No need to change your daily routines. In terms of announcing the pregnancy.....it is your personal decision. Since we had several miscarriages in the past we will not announce anything until 12 weeks. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.

Congratulations!!!! To be honest the first 12 weeks I didn't change much. I don't drink or smoke anyway so there was nothing to change there, I did cut down on caffeine though and avoided all the food that we aren't suppose to when pregnant. Physically I carried on with my normal high intensity training as I have always trained anyway so my body could handle it although I did reduce intensity as I got bigger. The rule of thumb is if you are exercising the. Make sure you are never out of breath and from second trimester don't lay flat on your back. Listen to your body, if u feel tired then it's important to rest. Drink lots and lots of water, as you stretch and get bigger your skin stretches and it may dry out and if yiu are dehydrated then you could get alot of stretchmrks keeping hydrated may help with that (although they delay stretchmarks is genetic). Do not eat for 2, no need to! Just eat healthy, you only need extra 200 Cals in third trimester. Gluck :)
