PCOS- Advice- Clomid VS. Femara!
I was just diagnosed with PCOS, was put on Metformin for my insulin resitance. I have another appt with my obgyn to discuss fertility medication. Advice on which to try? Clomid or Femera? We are TTC #2, or first pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage at 14 weeks. Been trying since our first miscarriage 14 months ago.

I have never used clomid as my dr is not very fond of it. It can thin your uterine lining, dry up your CM, and will stay in your system much longer than Femara with possible cumulative negative effects. Side effects while taking clomid are often more severe than with Femara. Discuss it with your dr. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.

I too have PCOS and tried Clomid first at the two pill a day dose then when follicle was not mature enough I was given three pills a day (same cycle). My uterine lining showed thin on the first scan (follicle not mature) and I was given estrogen to take twice a day. On higher dose I got one mature follicle but still a thin lining (7.5). I was told to take the estrogen vaginally and given the trigger shot. BFN and although it could be anything I really think it was the lining. I requested Femara for this cycle and had no problems getting it. I was told it has fewer side effects (although I didn't notice any on Clomid) and that it does not thin the lining. I also started drinking pomegranate juice and red raspberry leaf tea daily. Some say old wives tale but I have seen NUMEROUS positive stories of thin linings reversed after this regimen so its worth a shot especially if you are only offered the Clomid. Scan tomorrow to see if Femara worked. GL and baby dust to all!!!
