Triggering tonight with one 17mm follicle after only four days of Gonal-f. Thoughts please!
This is my first IUI. I responded to the Gonal-f very quickly; only four days of injections before I was told to trigger. The u/s showed one 17mm follicle. There were a few others that were between 12-14mm, so I guess maybe those could mature by Saturday. Does it seem like they told me to trigger on the early side? I was under the impression that it took more time to get to the trigger shot phase. I would love to hear anyone's thoughts on the matter. Since it's my first round, I'm not too familiar with the protocol. Thanks for your input!

I have been on Femara and gonal f for the past 16 months and the length of stimulation varies from cycle to cycle. Sometimes triggering on CD10 other times on CD12. I have at least 7 days of injections before a follicle is mature. My dr likes to see this length of stimulation or longer before triggering. His explanation: the follicles benefit from the exposure to FSH. But having only 4 days of stimulation does not mean that your follicle is bad. It just got ready quickly. My dr. triggers follicles 18 mm or larger with an estrogen level of ~200 each or more. Size of follicles is only one factor when assessing maturity of follicles. Estrogen levels have to support the findings. Your dr might change the treatment protocol if he feels your follicle matured too quickly. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.
