Test strips

Has anyone ever used hcg test strips? If so, what is the earliest you got positive results? I'm either 8 or 9 dpo, and just tried one out. Or are they even any good? Should I just stick with the normal ept?

I brought 20 of the strips after my last cycle and I took one everyday after ovulation... I was about 10-11dpo I took one on a Friday my cycle was due Monday .......I took it Friday afternoon before going out with friends and didn't check it into the am and I was surprised to see that it was positive so they do work
