Question

What supplements should I be taking?

I have had two chemical pregnancies so this cycle I want to be more proactive in getting my body ready to maintain a pregnancy, what supplements should I take. So far I have read, Fish oil, B12, zinc. If I take a multivitamin that has all of those things is that enough or should I take the multivitamin in addition? ANY thoughts would be appreciated!

It's always a good idea to start a prenatal vitamin before pregnancy. Omega-3 Fish oil is great, as well as a B vitamin. If you have low iron, try taking an iron supplement (like Euro-Fer, or Palifer).

If your prenatal vitamin covers zinc, supplementing additionally with it may not be necessary. I have been adding extra zinc for the last year but mostly because of a gastro intestinal problem. It has not helped me become pregnant despite some research suggesting it might increase fertility in men and women. I would consider flax oil in addition to fishoil , brewers yeast (a super food containing many b vitamins), additional vitamin D and folic acid depending on how much your prenatal vitamin contains. With folic acid I would make sure to get at least 800 mcg a day. A healthy diet, no caffeine or alcohol is always a good idea. Maca powder capsules are excellent. Maca nourishes the endocrine system and can help your luteal phase. I hope this helps. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.

I took a prenatal, an additional folic acid supp (total of 5000mcg), DHA, magnesium, D3, calcium, B12, and milk thistle, which was taken to help my liver with all the other drugs I was taking.
