So confused about ovulation
Good Afternoon Ladies ~
I am extremely confused about this months activities needless to say :) I was using ovulation prediction tests for 3 days prior to September 16th (so 13,14,15) then on Sept 16th I tested and it seemed to me it was a BFP for the ovulation stick test so as directed from the instructions I didn't test again then I got home and well I didn't have much will power so I tested again and it came back negative. So Sept 13 - Neg Sept 14 Neg Sept 15 Neg Sept 16 Pos at 11am then by 3pm was Negative again. Then I had major camping and symptoms like I was either PG, getting period or maybe ovulating; hard to tell some times. But so far nothing; no period (yet) and no BFP pregnancy test but according to my period APP I have on my phone my fertile week was Sept 16-22 and the actual ovulate day it told me was the 21st of September. Does anyone have any advice or words on this or been through the same thing?

With a +opk on the 16th, you can guess that you ov'd somewhere in the 12-48 hours that followed. That's just an average, though, and not a definite. But let's say you ov'd the next day; that would put you at 13 dpo today. For some women, that's too early to get a bfp. Some women do experience ov symptoms, which can be very similar to pregnancy and af symptoms. On average, af comes 14 days after ov. Of course, you may be different with af coming sooner or later than that. But assuming you have a 14 day luteal phase and you ov'd on the 17th, you could expect af tomorrow. If you ov'd later, you would expect af later. Maybe focus on the 16-18 as your possible ov days and if you haven't had af by Saturday or so, test again. It's not uncommon for some women to be 18 or more dpo before getting a bfp.

You get your period, on avg, 14 days after you o. If your app was correct, then you are approx 9 dpo. A test wouldn't be likely to be accurate at this point. However, apps typically aren't very accurate, so you may want to take note of when you get ewcm & positive opk. Ewcm & bodily cues were the most accurate for me when TTC.

I would really recommend temping in addition to your opk's to get a clearer picture of when you're ov'ing. The opk's are great as a tool, but don't technically confirm ov and have a pretty wide window of when you may ov after lh surge. Temping will open up a lot of info that opk's and apps can't. My app is always way off the mark with my ov date, so I use it mostly for recording cm and keeping notes that I can refer back to. For ov, though, I use temping and opk's.
