Will I hear a heartbeat?
I finally have my first scan on Monday (6days) I will be 10 weeks and 3 days. My last baby made it to just under 10w and by the time I had my scan I would've been around 11.5 weeks.
The midwife booked the scan for ASAP to put my mind at ease etc.but I've read on a lot of forums etc. (mostly US) that they couldn't hear a heartbeat this early via an ultrasound scan and had to wait. Is this true? What have your experiences been?

If they use the Doppler with u/s, you should be able to hear it. My u/s tech always lets us hear the heartbeat when she's doing the dating scan around 7 weeks. It's possible to hear it using the regular Doppler by 11-12 weeks, but also common to not be able to hear it. It depends largely on where the baby is hanging out at that moment. My ob will do a quick peek via u/s when a heartbeat can't be detected, but it's hit or miss at being able to hear it with the regular Doppler at that gestation.

U should hear the heartbeat via ultrasound at 10 weeks. I heard/saw mine at 8wks and heard it on a doppler (at home) on 8w3d. A regular doppler is a bit trickier tho, there are a few things that can make the heartbeat harder to find when using that method, but ultrasound will most likely be transvaginal so u should hear it if ur dates are accurate.
Good luck! =))
