Question

Lightening fast ovulationâ?¦ Clear Blue Digital OPK???

Hi, I need adviceâ?¦

This is my first month TTC after a missed miscarriage last month (August).

I am using Clear Blue Digital OPK that shows blinking smiley and solid smiley faces (high and peak fertility days).

- CD10 (10th Sep) OPK showed a blank circle (low fertility).
- CD11 (AM) OPK showed solid smiley face (peak fertility) skipping blinking smiley face.
- CD11(PM) tested again in the evening and it showed a blank circle (low fertility).

What's going on with my body?!

I understand that you don't alway get blinking smiley face before a peak fertility day. But I thought Clear Blue advanced OPK to be "advance" enough to give me at least 2 peak fertility days and 12-hour peak fertilityâ?¦

It could be that the hormone levels weren't strong enough the second test. I've read that the prediction tests are very sensitive and something about not drinking too much fluid before testing as this can dilute the hormones.
Maybe it depends on the test used??

Thanks for your answering my question, Loobylou.
For AM test, I tested with FMU and for the evening test, I limited fluid intake and held my urine for 4 hoursâ?¦
Today is CD12 and tested again in the morning and late afternoon and showed blank circles :(

After a miscarriage (I had one in July) your body is trying to "repair" itself and you will have some wacky readings from ovulation kits and pregnancy test. My doctor said that I should wait one to two cycles for my body to be back to normal. I just finished my 2nd cycle and I am starting to feel better again and my cycles are starting to even back out but they have changed.

I called after my 1st cycle freaking out because of this same reason and she said that charting RIGHT after a miscarriage is a good idea but is also frustrating because it is so sporadic. When is the last time you had your HCG levels checked, did they go all the way back down to below a 5?

Thanks for answering my question, Fitbyjordan. Somehow your response comforts me and I feel calmer now.
I had my HCG level checked twice middle of last month and the 2nd test which was taken on 17th August showed that the level was about 70.

I had a D&C on 1st August and confirmed first ovulation on 21st Aug when I had a scan for post-procedure. And I had my first period after the miscarriage on 1st September.

I have been using the cb digital advanced opk for the last year and had many inconsistent readings. It skipped multiple times the high fertility symbol(blinking smiley) and went right to the peak fertility symbol(static smiley). The leaflet tells you that this can happen. Sometimes estrogen rises so abruptly fast that it coincides with the Lh surge. In this scenario the monitor will display peak fertility right away. I had 2 instances where the monitor gave me peak fertility symbols but according to my dr's blood tests I was not even close to it. The major problem with this opk is that you are only supposed to test once in the morning. Also, If you get a false peak fertility symbol you cannot continue using the monitor the next day because the static smiley stays on display for 2 full days. I believe regular opk test sticks are better because you can test as often as you want to. All the best.

Thanks, "a member". I have 2 boxes of CB OPK so I was able to test again event after the test showed the static smiley face. After reading your post, I "studied" CD OPK leaflet came with the box again and the website. As I didn't think the test result was right.

I tested again this morning, and the test showed flashing smiley face (high fertility) which seems more right as now I am getting EWCM. The CB website says "If you do not use the first urine after your longest sleep you may see unexpected High Fertility results"

The day I had the static smiley (peak fertility), I slept only 4 hours because my 18 months old son woke up twice during the night. So I think my CD11 Peak fertility was incorrect test result.

Also, the CD OPK advanced "personalise" by first detecting the baseline and this is why you should start using it around CD10 (if your cycle is 28 days). I hope this information is useful for other CD OPK users.
