Question

Period after birth control

My husband and I decided to start ttc so I finished my last pack of bc but I still havent gotten my period since then which was almost 2 months ago. I was going to call the doctor on Tuesday but wanted to get opinions on if I should just wait. Here are the specifics:

I've been on bc for 3 years, periods used to be very irregular but a year before I got on bc they finally regulated. First day of my last period was on July 7th, took my last white pill on July 10th. Missed August period and now I'm late for my next period. I've taken a few tests all negative. Took a first response this morning, negative.

I'm afraid there might be something wrong with me but maybe I'm being paranoid, should I wait to call the doctor??

Thats a tough one. Birth control can affect your body in a lot of ways. Some people don't have regular cycles for up to six months after stopping bc. Do you have anymore pills? And do you use opks? I had really irregular cycles unless I was on birth control UNTIL after I had my daughter. Now my cycles are totally normal. I got pregnant the month I stopped taking BC. I finished my pills, had my period then just kinda waited... I went by when I would have started my period if I was still on the pills and when I got thru that entire week where I expected a period and didn't get one, I took a test and tada... I would get some opks if you haven't already. Amazon sells a brand called wondfo. Very cheap. If you have the patience I would take a pack of pills for a month and after your period stops for that month start testing with the opks. See if you get any surges. If you do, wait about 14 days from that and test. If you don't get a surge or a period for the whole month I'd see a doc.

I didn't get my period for 3 mos after stopping the pill. Being irregular post bc, up to 6 mos, is very normal. Most drs recommend you contact them if it has been 3 mos since a period, so you may want to give it one more month. Once my cycle resumed, I went on to have two daughters, no issues. Just try & be patient! Gl!

I don't get my period for 5 months after stoping BC. I did a round of provera to stimulate a period. Didn't work.
I finally called my doc at 5 mo and I O'd that day!

Two months is a whileâ?¦I'm impatient, I would go to the Dr. and see what his/her recommendation is. They may give you Provera to jump start it or just let it play out naturally.

Thank you ladies!!! After reading these I was going to wait one more month but since I'm extremly impatient I called the doctor today. They told me that it is pretty normal not to get it after stoppimg bc but said to call back in a month if I still haven't gotten it and they will make me an appointment. I think I will pick up some OPKs and hopefully I can somehow manage to get a BFP before having to call the doctor again :)
