still no period 17dpo and negative pregnancy test 2 days ago

so i still have no period but i did spot a little bit yesterday it was just some pink discharge and i have cramping but no period, i took a pregnancy test about 2 days ago so 15dpo and it was negative
could i be starting my period later than usual because it was irregular last month, but does that explain the spotting.?
