How early can they detect a heart beat?
So dating from my LMP I'll be coming into my 8th week of pregnancy but I'm having a dating scan on the 7th of July. I'm just wondering can they detect a heart beat that early on? I'm just a little worried because back in 2011 I had a blighted ovum and they couldn't detect anything but the sac of corse. Hmmmmm

The heart starts beating approximately 21-22dpo, so 5 wks, it can be seen within a few days after via ultrasound. As for hearing it via doppler, thats gonna depend on the mhz of the probe ur using and ur overall size. I was listening to my son at the doctors at 10wks and this pregnancy at home on 8w5d, both loud n clear. Possibly couldve been a few days earlier but it hadnt arrived in the mail til 8w5d. Definitely not common with everyone so dont feel even slightly discouraged if u dont hear it before 12ish weeks. My dating scan was 8wks and the heart was very visible and audible via transvag...they dont scan abdominal here before 12wks.
Good luck! =))

I'm going to be 8 weeks and getting my first ultrasound on the 5th. :) And you should see the HB with a vaginal ultrasound, and I think they usually do those with dating scans? I think that's what I'll be getting, but not sure, I am nervous I've never had a vaginal ultrasound before lol sounds awkward, but I'll be happy to see a heartbeat!! Good luck to both of us!! :)
