Clomid - success stories thoughts? Will your family doctor be able to prescribe this rx?
Been trying for almost a year now and my periods are very irregular and I have been using OPKs to pin point ovulation. Some months I don't get a positive read at all. Was hoping clomid would take away the uncertainty. Worried it will be lots of check ups and exams... maybe even twins?

I have been on Femara (similar to clomid) for a few months now. I see my OB/GYN who is also a reproductive endocrinologist during these medicated cycles.....I am being monitored with bloodtests and ultrasounds and get the HCG shot to trigger ovulation. I would not go to a family practicioner for this....Twins are always a possibility espec. if you are younger and produce more follicles during stimulation. Hope this helps.

Yes a regular OB can prescribe clomid. Mine did and he was not a specialist. That is about all they can do though. After 6 rounds they probably will refer you to a reproductive specialist. The only monitoring mine did with clomid was CD 21 progesterone blood tests. Now with a reproductive endocrinologist I as well will be monitored more closely now that I am on femara. No triggers yet for me though with my weight I am too high risk :( So I have to diet

I agree with Momtom and Mechelle2879- It's helpful to see an RE if possible because they will monitor you more closely ....and after all "this is all that they do".
Has your OB recommended an HSG test since you've been trying for a year?
Clomid has a higher risk of multiples than Femera/ Letrozol -8% versus 4% with Femera. It also has more side effects. I've been on Femera for 5 months and haven't noticed any side effects.
