It is not common to have ovulated by CD 5. If you kept a temperature chart you could see if and when you ovulated. Otherwise you have to rely on cervix position and mucus signs. If you have not had any fertile clear stretchy mucus during the previous days it is unlikely (but not impossible) that you ovulated. Try charting your temperatures and use ovulation predictor test kits in the future to help you understand when you typically ovulate. Hope this helps

So, if you have 30 day cycles, you ovulate around day 16, give or take. You are in your fertile window, however, so I would def be having regular sex over the next week or so. Days 14 & 15 are your most fertile days, so make sure you cover those. If you're charting, you can narrow down when to stop having planned sex. Keep taking those prenatals & gl!

Once your temp rises, it's too late. The egg only has a life span of 24 hrs max. You want sperm waiting on the egg. Once your temp rises, it means you have already ovulated & your odds of conception plummet. Sperm have to travel to your tube & go through changes to become capable of fertilization. That takes time. You need his swimmers ready to go to attack the egg when it is released. The 2-3 days prior to o are your most fertile days of the month.

And when I say 2-3 days prior, I mean all of the days prior to o, counting back 3 days. Most drs recommend that you start 5 days prior since sperm can live up to 5 days. I actually never made o day a high priority for sex, but made sure we dtd for a few days after I suspected I o'd in case I was wrong. Since I didn't chart, we bd from CD 8-20 (every other day) on a 27 day cycle.
