Question

No need for monthly progesterone levels with clomid?

I have been taking Clomid 50mg on days 5-9 and have been having a progesterone level done on day 21 for the last 3 months. I was told by my physician when I began Clomid that I wound need a progesterone checked every month but today he said I didn't have to have it checked every month while taking Clomid. Just kind of confused and wanted someone else's opinion. Has anyone taken Clomid and NOT had a progesterone level done monthly?

I have been taking Femara for the last 8 months. It is similar to clomid. My dr insists on the progesterone test every month. He says it helps him to help me. The progesterone test really tells the doctor whether ovulation took place and whether it was a good and strong ovulation. I hope this helps.

I've been off/on clomid for over a year now. Every once in a while they'll check my 7dpo progesterone but because I do my bbt and often have ultrasounds, they dont bother much.

I've been taking Clomid for 6 months. They've only done 1 21 day progesterone test. It came back at 26 but still not pregnant. They just put me up to 100 mg and are giving it 3 months then will check my progesterone again.

Maybe if there is evidence that you are ovulating, then there is no need for the test. Just saying...

I am taking clomid 50mg for cycle days 3-7 and have done labs/blood work on cycle day 21 as well every month for the last 3 months. Every month so far my progesterone levels stay under 10. So I am not ovulating.
But, I thought they HAD to keep checking your levels in order to determine whether you ovulated and then they can accurately prescribe the clomid. But I know a couple of people that don't go in and get any progesterone tests done.....
ME personally, I like getting the lab work done because when you know your levels, you know whether you have a chance at being pregnant that month.
Good luck to you and all of us patient ladies :)

Hi, I have been taking Clomid for the past 3 months and have been advised by the doc to continue for another 3 cycles if not pregnant until then. I was asked to do progesterone tests on cd24 and I did for the first 2 months, my hormone levels were very good, it was 57 the first month and 39 the next month thought I didn't fall pregnant :(

When I called my doc, she said the hormones are good and I can continue with the tabs and there is no need of doing any blood tests until the prescribed course ends. I think its completely normal to ignore the blood test if they have confirmed that you have 'O' and the level is greater than 20 ( could be 15 too, but I remember my doc expecting min of 20)
