Question

I'm intrigued

Ok in the uk, when we get positive hpt, we register with midwife bout 8 weeks, see midwife 11/12 weeks, 12 week scan, 20 week scan..
Then 4-6 weekly visits till near end when it's 2 weekly..

I see a lot of you abroad, have bloods done, scans done des app extremely early on, is that normal?
Do you pay for all that?
Like I say I'm intrigued xx

I live Australia and here we get blood tests to confirm the HPT is true. Then a scan about 6-7 weeks to confirm viability and make sure its not ectopic. This also combines a dating scan to see if your as far along as you thought. Then you wait till 12 weeks before you see a midwife/OBGYN

With my first pregnancy I was off by a whole week because of my PCOS.

All of these test are generally covered by the government if the Dr sends you. But if you just make the appointments on your own you have to pay. Some women don't start anything, including seeing their GP till after they are 12 weeks

I would say see a GP they may get you to do some tests confirming things if you ask them.

Here in the US, generally you see your OB or midwife around 8-10 weeks for an initial ultrasound to make sure baby's in the uterus and not hanging out where it's not supposed to be, then an anatomy scan around 18-20 weeks, then one more scan around 33 weeks to see if baby is head down. Doctor's appointments are monthly until about 30-33 weeks, and then 2-3 weeks after that. There is some variation in this schedule, depends on the doctor and the mom. If you conceive with assistance of an RE, you generally get blood tests right away and an ultrasound at about 6-7 weeks to look for a heartbeat as they have to report those stats. If you're over 35, you can also do some additional scans and testing around 12 weeks (NT scan, MaterniT21 or equivalent blood tests) or amnio at 16 weeks.
