Question

We've been TTC for 2 years in July. Before trying I was on the pill for 5-6 years. Is this normal?

Right so we've been TTC for 2 years in july- it's flown but every month is the 'am I or am I not'.Before deciding to try for a baby my partner is the only sexual partner I've had (met him young I'm lucky!) so at 14/15 i went on the pill to be careful. At 20 we then moved out and was financially stable so decided to start our own little family. I keep track of my periods every month and they're regular every 28/29 days and they last for 3-4 days. It's quite annoying as a few of our friends have got pregnant just from one night stands or been on the pill!I'm just wondering when we should think about going to the doctors/if we should.Last April we had a Positive on a PT on the Friday then started bleeding on the Tuesday. The last two months around OV time I've had a jelly like substance in my wee sometimes ( not always ) so is this a sign that the pill is finally out? so many questions (sorry guys!)
We are 22 & 25 and healthy.Thank you for reading :D

I would say it wouldn't hurt to go to the doctor and get checked out. I know that it can be frustrating when seeing people get pregnant so easy. The window for egg and speem to meet is pretty small. Timing is everything, and even when you think you did it all right it doesn't always work out the way we hope. Good luck to you!

If you've been trying for 2 years, I would say it is definitely time to see a Dr. It could be a fertility issue or it could just be taking you a while. The only way to know for sure is to have tests run. They typically test the woman first, however, men contribute just as equally to infertility. As for the pill, it does take a couple of months for your cycles to regulate after coming off of it, but generally not 2 yrs, unless there is an issue. I was on it for 15 consecutive years & it took about 3 months for my cycles to resume. I would def make an appt with your Gyn. Hopefully, everything will check out OK! Gl!

I would definitely get both you and your partner checked out (I'd start with him, it's much much cheaper and easier).

I agree testing would be a good, but just to give you some hope I have a couple of friends who had been trying for 2 1/2 years to get pregnant. They had testing done and absolutely nothing was wrong with them. It just sometimes takes time. You only have 20% chance of getting pregnant each cycle. Some will get pregnant first try after the pill (my sister, grr) some take much longer. We are at 2 years and 4 months of trying now. I did get pregnant earlier but miscarried at 10 weeks unfortunately. That was over a year ago now. Still trying.

I've spoken to a few online about ttc and seen ttc stories 2 years+! My nurse did recommend vitamins before but I have a lot going on in personal life this year, had an op, moving house, planning a wedding so may be stress related! I believe we miscarried last year after a positive then bleeding :( so my heart goes out to you! Thank you for some hope!! X

when we were ready to TTC i went off the pill (after being on it a few years) and had no period for 3 months. long story short was seen by the doc and we've diagnosed a few health problems with me. after working very hard at fixing my health and TTC for 1.5 years we got our first BFP and keeping FX'd it works out well! if you've been TTC for 1 year it's time to see the doc and make sure your health is ok. they may diagnose you with 'unexplained infertility', but at least you know you're otherwise healthy and ready to make a lil one!

and what you described at ovulation time sounds like you had EWCM, egg white cervical mucous, which is very good fertile fluid for BD'ing and making a baby!

I was hoping the jelly stuff was a good sign! for the last two cycles I've had it.
Basically in July 2012 I came off the pill, April 2013 we miscarried - we were so devastated after MC'ing my Counsellor ( I suffer with depression ) at the time suggested we went on the pill for a short time , just to 'get my head around it' as I had a lot going on the same time, I was only on the pill for 3--4 months tops again but wondering if that messed my body up again! Looking back now I wish i never went back on it but I was gutted with my first MC & didn't want it to happen again (stupid
