Question

Am I too old to conceive naturally?

Hi I'm new to this site ( as of today) I'm 41 and have had 4 babies only 3 surviving, 3 miscarriages, my oldest child is 20 and my youngest is almost 9.. Me and my hubby have been trying for around 3 months to conceive, he is 31 and has no children of his own. I have been told time and again I'm far too old to even consider having another baby and any fertility help is definitely out of the question.. so are my chances really that slim?? I really hope not as my hubby would dearly love to have the joys of having his own baby... Any answers would be much appreciated x good luck to everyone x

It may take you longer than someone younger, but you can still conceive, either naturally or with fertility treatment. As you know, you are at higher risk for miscarriage & chromosomal abnormalities, but the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor. Ignore people. I just had my 2nd at 36 & people made rude comments to me too. My sil had her two girls at 40 & 41 with fertility treatment, but she had underlying issues unrelated to age. If you haven't conceived after 6 mos, consult a Dr. Gl!

I hope not :) Having children already I think gives you better odds. Each woman is different. I'm 40 and I am taking femara to help me and might do IUI. I had my last baby aged 38, so I really don't care about the bad odds they tell me. - I say go for it!

I don't know that this will be much help or not but maybe it'll give you hope, my friend is 40 and she was trying for 2 years and right now is 8 weeks prego. She didn't use any fertility treatments or anything. But everyone is different . Just thought I'd share :-D don't give up and don't stress it

Hi there, I'm 41 also and had a baby last year in October when I was 40. It only took us 2 months to conceive him naturally. My last pregnancy was nearly 19 years earlier. This year we decided we would like another, only thing was I hadn't got my period back since giving birth last year. In early Oct I found I was pregnant, unfortunately it ended in m/c but again I managed to conceive naturally. I know I ovulated on the 27th of Oct so now I'm just waiting to see if we have been successful again. Don't give up hope of conceiving naturally as I have a friend who is 43 and conceived naturally (she also has 2 other children who were conceived after turning 40) Good luck :-)
