Question

Is it possible for a normal 28 day cycle to go as long as 35-40 days?

The past 2 cycles I have had are 28 days. The one before that was 31 days. I did OPK's on the 31 day cycle and the following 28 day cycle. Both times I got my peak reading at CD 15. Right after I ovulate, the next day or two my BBs start getting super sore up until a day or two before my period. This was the case on my last 28 day cycle as well so I feel I have pinpointed my O day pretty accurately. This cycle we were on vacation during my fertile time and BD'd on the appropriate days. But- my BBs never became sore. We got home and my DH had to go out of town for work. My BBs actually started hurting the day before AF was due. Which is completely abnormal for me. Well AF never came (I am 3 days late) but I am getting neg HPT's :( I am wondering if it seems possible I would have ovulated a 7-10 days late? Which now would put me at about a 35-40 day cycle? How common is it for that to happen? I am hoping not, because then we missed our window :(

It's very possible that you ovulated late. Many things can push ovulation back by days or weeks. Even women with a regular clockwork 28-day cycle can have an annovulatory cycle.

But hopefully, you're just testing too early. Good luck!
