What is the purpose of a progesterone supplement?

My doc is talking about adding a progesterone suppository to my femara and ovidrel cycle this month. What exactly would that do for me?

It will lengthen the time between ovulation and menstruation (called your luteal phase). If this time period is too short (under 12 days) implantation cannot occur successfully.

oh and I just want to add that my cycle buddy from last month got pregnant her first month on progesterone! GL to you!

i have a luteal phase defect and we use progesterone so i can make it past 10 DPO, so if i make a baby it has a chance of implanting and telling the body to please not evict it!!! ;) unfortunately we have not been successful yet, but it definitely increases my odds!
