Make sure to take it at the same time every day, before you get out of bed or get up for any reason. Your basal temp is your base resting temp, so any movement can mess it up. Also make sure you're taking it after a solid block of sleep- 5 hours is recommended, I seem to do okay with 3, but everyone is different. If you don't wake up at the same time every day, or especially if you keep forgetting to temp, set an alarm for before the earliest time you wake up and leave your thermometer by the bed. When your alarm goes off, roll over, take your temp, write it down and go back to sleep.

I temp every morning at 6:35 like clock work and it is all over the place I saw a spike last month but the BBT chart on this site says it did not detect ovulation...yet my ovulation kit says i did on halloween. So i would just keep at it and set the reminders like Aqualov said....BABY DUST!

Absolutely agree with Aqualov. Are you taking your temp orally? I did that for a while but temps seemed to be all over the place. The hubs told me sometimes I sleep with my mouth open and other times it's closed. It was suggested to me to try taking it vaginally. I was skeptical at first but it really does help to give you more consistent temps.
