12 DPO and i think i got my period but could it be Implantation?

I have been trying to get pregnant for a few months now. Went off the pill in August and have had regular cycles and heavy periods like before, since. I have also been ovulating about day 12-14 each month. I started bleeding last evening, Wednesday and not due until Sunday? It is heavy but light tampon every 4-6 hours has done. It is red in colour and looks normal to my period. However, could this be implantation bleeding? I have heard that some people get it quiet heavy. I have had a runny nose (no cold), and feeling more tired than usual and some cramping from after ovulation. Am i clutching at straws? :-(
