Question

Going to a Reproductive Endocrinologist for the first time what to expect?

We have been ttc for over a year this time I don't ovulate and my ob/gyn has not want to do any testing to see why. I have never had DH tested.

How much will it cost for a Semen Analysis?
what drugs will they use first?
does insurance pay for ultrasounds?
what other test will they have me do?
how much will it cost?
my insurance only pays for medically necessary stuff only.

First appt is usually just collecting your history and making plans. Make sure you have a history of your cycles with you like when they started, an average cycle length if it's reliable and anything abnormal you have noticed. They will also want history of conditions or illnesses on your side and dh's side. They will ask you what you have already tried while ttc, how often you bd, etc.

After that they will probably schedule you for testing or do some blood work there if they do it on site. Usually it will be a full blood work including hormone levels, ovarian reserve testing, thyroid testing, blood type if you don't know, etc. They will probably want a SA for your dh. You may also be scheduled for an ultrasound to check for cysts or other abnormalities and/or an hsg to check your uterus shape and to find out if your tubes are blocked.

I feel like I am very blessed to have great insurance and only ever pay a copay so I can't really answer your questions about price.

I remembered that I have a print out of all the charges that my insurance paid...ultrasounds are listed at $185, blood work ranged anywhere from $15-120 but most insurances will cover blood work even if they don't cover the RE appts, office visit was also $185. I don't have the SA amount because I have separate ins from my dh but I know that his covered it. Hope this helps!
