PCOS & Trying again.
I was diagnosed with PCOS in November 2011 and was prescribed Metformin. In February 2012 we conceived our son, who was born in November 2012. We're TTC again and I went to a gyno (different from the first one who diagnosed me) who thought that clomid would work better. She wouldn't prescribe me Metformin, but did prescribe 50mg of clomid. Has anyone else had a similar situation? Or been prescribed 50mg of clomid and been successful?

I really think Clomid is step 2. Metformin helps regulate your cycle and in most cases allows women to ovulate on their own whereas clomid forces ovulation. If your ovary is not producing great follicles then the clomid will produce crappy eggs. Now that isn't the case for everyone and it is really up to the individual.
What I would be asking is, was any bloodwork done? It seems rash to just throw fertility meds at you before doing any tests to see where your hormones are at.
I just started Metformin myself and that is how my doctor explained it to me. BUt you have to go with your gut, if you feel its the right way to go then go for it. If not, then research your options. I wish you the best of luck!!!

She did bloodwork before I went, and she said my hormone levels were in the "normal" levels. I told her that I'd rather just have the Metformin again, because it worked last time but she thought that Clomid would work better. If I'm not pregnant by January, she wants me to go back..
